Maths - Using Game Playing

Anna Jones, a maths teacher at a comprehensive in North Somerset, uses game playing as a tool to help her teach Year 10 students about difficult concepts in maths such as reflection, rotation and translation.

By using the whiteboard she can make her lessons more visual, and this encourages the class to participate in the lesson and enriches their learning.

Later in a bid to help the students learn more about the topic, Anna puts the class into pairs for a game where their knowledge will help them battle it out against one another.

This programme shows a complete lesson, uninterrupted and unedited with the intention of developing classroom observation skills.

Part of our uncut series of lessons, providing a fresh insight into teaching with a real time, real action classroom.
